Gezahegn Mekonnen Demissie is an Ethiopian journalist, filmmaker, and cultural advocate whose work bridges storytelling, media, and community engagement across continents. Now based in Toronto, he produces a television series for OMNI Channel and hosts a radio show and podcast under New Perspective አዲስ ቅኝት, platforms dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and diaspora narratives.

Gezahegn serves as a board member of PEN Canada, where he also chairs the Writers in Exile group, advocating for freedom of expression and supporting writers who have been displaced by conflict, censorship, and political pressure. Prior to this role, he contributed to literary and press freedom efforts as a board director at PEN Ethiopia. He is also the Executive Director of Bridge Entertainment, where he continues to develop film and media projects that highlight underrepresented stories.

His creative and journalistic work frequently explores themes of exile, identity, and belonging, particularly reflecting the experiences of Ethiopian and broader African diaspora communities in Canada. He is the co-writer of The Uncaged Voice, an anthology showcasing powerful literary works by writers in exile supported by PEN Canada.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to journalism and his dedicated service to the Ethiopian community, Gezahegn was honored with an award from the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada in 2019.

Ermias Mulugeta Alem is a journalist and media researcher with a decade of professional experience, having worked in a wide range of roles across the media sector. He has also served as an analyst and advisor to several international organizations in Ethiopia and beyond, and previously served as editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Addis Maleda.

His bylines and analytical work have appeared on platforms including the Global Investigative Journalism Network, Al Akhbar Al Ain, GenderIT.org, and Pan African Vision, reflecting his sustained engagement with regional and global issues.

Sosina Ashenafi is an Ethiopian journalist and writer with more than a decade of experience in media and literature. She has published numerous short stories, poems, and essays primarily in her native language, Amharic, as well as several works in English.

Currently based in Toronto, Sosina co-edits and produces a television series on OMNI Channel and contributes to an online publication titled New Perspective (አዲስ ቅኝት). Prior to relocating to Canada, she produced radio programs in Ethiopia for FM Addis 97.1 and Sheger FM 102.1, and contributed to the Addis Admas weekly newspaper, along with several other publications.

Sosina is the author of the recently published short story collection ብርቱካናማው ኮት (Birtukanamaw Kot). She has also been an active member of several professional organizations, including the Ethiopian PEN Center, PEN Canada's Writers in Exile, the Ethiopian Women Writers Association, and the Ethiopian Media Women Association.

Abiy W. Mekonnen is a seasoned journalist with a career dating back to 2009. His extensive experience in print media includes roles from junior reporter to editor at publications such as Addis Fortune, Ethiopian Business Review, and Ethio Sport.

In addition to contributing to international media platforms, Abiy has a strong broadcast background, having served as a co-host and host at Sheger FM and Ethio FM. He further contributed to the industry as General Secretary of the Ethiopian Sports Journalists’ Association for nearly four years, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to the field.
